No caviar or bestsellers here, just authentic, flavorful dishes full of history to share. Today, I present “Mame’s Kefta,” my grandmother’s meatballs.

 

Mame’s Kefta

 

Preparation: 10 minutes • Cooking: 10 minutes

Ingredients for 6 people

  • 500 g ground beef
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried tarragon
  • 125 g breadcrumbs + 50 g for rolling the meatballs
  • 150 g water
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • Salt and pepper
  • Flour for rolling the meatballs

 

Instructions

  1. Soak the breadcrumbs in water.
  2. Mix all ingredients and form the meatballs.
  3. Roll the meatballs in breadcrumbs, then in flour.
  4. Cook in a pan with hot oil (until halfway cooked) for 3 minutes on each side.
  5. Serve with yogurt sauce or tomato sauce.
